Ned Schwing
Co-Founder & Executive Chairman
Walter E. “Ned” Schwing, Jr. is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of NextStage Clinical Research and NextStage Clinical Research International (“NCR” companies), the latest in a series of successful business enterprises conceived and created with his brother and business partner, Robert Schwing.
At NCR, a pioneer of the physician-centric clinical research model, Schwing serves as Executive Chairman, and oversees every aspect of the businesses, to include strategic direction, executive team management, partnership development, and organizational expansion.
Schwing is also the co-founder and Executive Chairman of NextStage Medical, a durable medical equipment company; MedSite Partners, a cardiovascular ASC development and management firm; and Partners Surgical Corporation, a multi-specialty spine and orthopedic-focused ambulatory surgery center company.
In 2010, the Schwing’s founded National Cardiovascular Partners (NCP), an organization that created, sustained, and grew independent, outpatient cardiac catheterization and vascular labs in a unique partnership with physician entrepreneurs. During his tenure at NCP, the company partnered with Bain Capital, one of the world’s leading private investment firms, to accelerate their growth and increase their operating capacity. By 2014, NCP had a growing national footprint, and was acquired by Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), one of nation’s largest healthcare conglomerates.
A lifelong entrepreneur, Schwing founded several other successful companies including National Billing Partners, Specialty Therapeutic Care, Physicians Surgical Care, and Southwest Renal Care. Intimately involved in the strategy, development, and overall management of operations, Schwing’s steady stewardship has resulted in consistent and significant increases in investor equity and returns for each endeavor.
Schwing was named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2010 and was recognized as an Outstanding Entrepreneur by the Texas State House of Representatives in 2011. He is the former chairman and a charter member of the Gulf States Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO); a founding member of the Gulf States Chapter of the World President’s Organization (WPO); and has served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations and educational institutions.
